Ive read(in the old days) if they burried some of there cash outside it would where they could see the location from inside, so use your imagination and take a good look from inside. Check the foundation with the detector if it is an old stone foundation may be a stone that was removed and replaced...Good luck....DW

WoW! Thanks guys, This is the first time I have been able to get on this site since my last post. (Some sort of error message!) I have tried many of the ideas posted but I will definitely try some more!   The lady that lived here had 5 servants that lived here in the house pretty much all of the time so I am thinking her hiding place would need to be some where that they would not see her hide stuff and also somewhere that she would not get all dirty.

check for any loose stones around the fire places, in each room get on a ladder and look down then get on the floor and look up. look out the windows if anything stands out go check around it . That old tree has grown a lot so get a ladder and check up higher then you can reach check crotchs and any holes. If they had an outhouse check around it . Check the trim on windows and doors if you open them up you will find spacesunder the windows and above the doors. See if you have any old cistrines or wells but be carefull they can be dangerous good luck!!

I've have found that a lot of women if hiding things outside would put them in a flower or vegetable garden because they could easily bury things while weeding with out being noticed. Also if she lived there when the bathroom was installed check there, the most private room in the house.

I live in austin just a few miles from the famed "chicken ranch".   I was talking to a guy the other day who said a few years ago he was looking around the old house for the man that owns the property and found some gold coins under the stair case.

A friend of mines brother was doing some work for someone whos father had died,he was renovating the house so the estate could sell it when he came across a bag of gold coins hidden in the air return vent of the heating system. They were not old but aparently the father was hoarding them perhaps for bad times. In the end the brother and sister ended up in court fighting over them. No no!

One of the surest spots would be in the main bedroom that the homeowner would have used.Under a loose bord in the closet floor.I also live in an old house.I found an extra space behind a closet when I noticed that all the upstairs floorspace just didn't seem accounted for.It was three feet wide by three feet tall.AND TEN FEET LONG!!The upstairs floorplan just didn't match the roofline. There was a treasure trove of junk stacked high!Curtain rods and construction debris from a downstairs remodel long ago.I guess the poor people who always lived here had no $$$$$$$$$$.
Now that I think about it maybe I should have looked inside those hollow curtain rods befor I threw them out.I'm an idiot!
