I added a high strength magnet to the head of my principal digging tool. This magnet is strong enough to hold the iron bits though the digginfThe idea is it gets the bits of iron that interfer with the probe. I worked with it for about an hour today and you can see what it picked up. The extra weight of the magnet is the only drawback so far.

Ya, Very nice... I have had good luck with a similar layout. I have added rare earth magnets to my digging tools. works great...

10-4====== makes a world of difference especially when digging in old townsites with lots of iron litter.

I find this quiet interesting..sometimes when digging the machine detects iron  bits and gives wrong signals..this way you aboid it....good idea
