Christian was asking me about a probe we use for bottle hunting.  Good information can be found here under: The Probe.

I have a four foot homemade probe similar to the ones Eddie describes at his site. I bought a commercial probe from the site listed below.  I bought a three foot attachment to this commercial probe so I could extend at least six feet into the ground.  The main reason I bought this particular probe is the extention idea and that the handle comes off.  I take off the handle that is used for shoving the probe into the ground and replaced it with a small wooden handle so that the probe can be used for (and looks like) a hiking apparatus.  When I come to an area I want to probe I put the pushing type handle on.  The probe can also fit into a big suitcase because of its take apart ability.
