Go Up Go Down

I forced myself to learn to pinpoint accurately by only taking a one piece solid stainless steel knife with a 6" blade instead of any digging device. It was the best thing I ever did and, unless I'm out in the country relic hunting, it's all I use.

I like the feel of stabbing into the soil and hitting my target - I've put a scratch on a few things I wished I hadn't though - everything has its drawbacks. Once I've found the target, I slice into the ground like it's pita bread and pry open a bit & pop it out. Can't even tell I was there.

A few times, it's been nice to be holding a knife when people approach as I usually hunt alone. Sue

hmm tried to change the subject to digging tools, but that doesn't work.  Wink

I use a Lesche and a brass probe.  Would still like a regular pinpointer though.

hi sweet sue!
i use a knife too! little bit longer than yours tho.they do fine. i cut into the ground at a park one time(like i was cutting a piece of sod),while rolling the turf up like a newspaper,11.05$ fell out of it,or was picked from it.then i rolled the cut ground back & moved on~probly took 5 minutes +or- Grin

mines a old machete from flea market long & thin.good for other stuff too while on the hunt. Grin

Thats right.  There have been times where I have found clad fairly deep and wheats very shallow.
