Yes, it's true. You can make good finds at skiing resorts at summer. E.g. watches, wallets etc.

Regards,

Christian

a little knnown fact is that often before there were bridges at lots of spots ---there were ferry landings * quite often --- normally within a few hundred yards of where the bridges are now -- is where old ferry boat landings were -- a bit of study of the land will turn up these spots fairly easily --often there were food and drink place near the landing sites  ---to serve folks waiting on the ferry (the ferry men often made 4-6 trips a day --one each way ---morning / noon* --if there was enough traffic / evening )

Hm, never thought about the ferries.  Nice input.  I will very much consider going to the bridges, as I have a magnet that I can try them on.  I have an old bridge on a messy and old road, above a creek.  I bet some interesting things would cling onto it if I throw it down into the water.  The magnet I got is a ring magnet, the pulling force on it is 100.6 lbs.

thanks --most folks don;t think how did they cross before the bridge was here? --bridges for the most part were built on well traveled old trade path roads -- many that had private ferrys in many cases in the old days

Indeed there is much to be found at old brides, especially in the water. Allready the old Romans used to toss coins or gits from a bridge to a certain god who was said to protect bridges! So there can be big surprised to be discovered!

Regards,

Christian
