Help is here.    Where do you live?

If your in the Phoenix area you know what the Desert can do.

More the a few dozen people have lost there lives going after the Lost Dutchmens Mine.

Some by the hand of man but most by the elements.

You wold be a fool not to take a metal detector, 3 or 4 knives a piece, you need a hand cart to take all your supplies in your going to need, 2 days worth of water is about 5 gallons easily, this time of year the bears are all out of hibernation and hungry cubs will be soon on the move, huge danger, a side arm a piece would be wise, couple packs of fire crackers, magnesium fire starter, a bunch of empty cans with fishing line to make a noisy trip wire as an alarm at night, keep a fire going,  stick close together less likely a cougar will attack that way, a walking stick as tall as you, and all the stuff I listed above except the sluice you wont need that.

Your going into Arizona, during the summer the heat alone will kill you, winter time is the best in that area. No one with half a brain goes after gold during the summer out there. In the mountains theres no telling what kinds of wild life to expect but do expect to come across wild life, snakes especially will be a major danger out there anytime of year when the sun is out or warm nights. Rattlers dont always rattle before they strike and if hear one rattling you can bet he is within striking range, Your gonna need snake proof boots and chaffs for your legs. Climbing up the sides of mountain cliffs  is not advised, you get struck by one you will die. Im not even sure if you can buy anti dote but if you can bring it. That old trick about sucking venom out is a wives tail and wont work.  Mountain lions are out there for sure and the problem with them is that you never know they are there until its too late, they are highly intellegent, stealthy, and will anticipate your moves and travel routes and get ahead of you in an ambush spot, stick together, use a walking stick at least a foot higher then your head sharpend and keep it on your shoulder parrelled with your body, if a cat strikes he will be jumpimg down on you and this will give you a better chance of impalling him, wear a back pack that goes even with your head, many hikers were only saved because the cat bit into the back pack and missed their neck.  Stay on trails if possible. If your walking along a cliffs and small rocks start falling down you can bet something like a cougar is up there and stalking you. I would probably wait until winter if I was you going into that area and research everything possible about the wild life, terrain and then plan your trip. Water is going to be your greatest need and the longer your trip the more you need. Dont think that being gone only a couple days is not a concern not to bring a lot of water, moving through the desert you will need a lot of water and if anything happens and you get into trouble without water well, nice knowing you. Out there you also have scorpions so sleeping directly on the ground can be a huge mistake, if you take off your boots check them before you put them back on everytime. Had a freind who once brought one home from florida in his duffle bag but them kind will only make you sick they wont kill you unlike the ones you may encounter. get the best two way hand held walkie talkie with the greatest range, cell phones may not work out there. A GPS unit is a must, if you find something especially, the likely hood of you ever finding it again are about slim to none. Im about to take a trip myself for a week Im not going into any area as remote as you and lucky for me I can drive into where Im am going most of the way but Im still taking with me just about everything I mentioned and more. Bears, cougars, and wolves will be around possibly rattlers or cottonmouth but rest assured Im well prepared every time I go into the woods any where.
