Have you any theory as to why IR would be effective in treasure hunting?

GD,   the  following 2 urls give an idea of the benefit of IR to treasure hunting (after all, what are archaeologists if not treasure hunters? )

basically it gets down to the fact that IR helps identify disturbed soil mostly due to temperature differences with the surrounding undisturbed soil.

As I suspected, the grand scheme is different than the localized hunting. The questions here have been directed towards use on a local, close up scale. While I do appreciate what NASA has done for archaeology, I do not really see what a small, hand held camera or goggles will do for localized hunting.

I await the theory of why IR is useful for treasure hunting by individuals rather than satellite. I want to get a grip on why it would be useful to a treasure hunter on the ground, looking at a treasure site.

I do appreciate your answer and have long understood the larger issue and use of IR.

You did not ask for specifics, you only asked if ANYONE had an idea.... I do have a few, untested ideas.  Kiss

Before you ask for specifics, check the old thread, this has been dinned to death!  Grin

Brian, if you have something constructive to add, please do. Otherwise, let those posing the question answer. Thank you.

I am giving truthful, constructive answers to inane questions!

You asked a question, I gave you a simple answer and you give me a hard time!  Shocked

If you really wanted an answer, you would have looked back through the thread, and found your answer. Of course, it might have required a bit of reasoning, which should be right up your alley.  Cool

Besides, "dadda," I think I will answer any time I like. What will you do? Spank me? Tch! Tch!  Grin

IF you ask the right question, I can give you an answer.... you have to be nice!  Cry

ASK the darn question!
