hey folks here's somthing that most of you old hounds probably know and utilize cause you are great but i wanted to share anyway  before you dig a target  take your pointer and probe the surface  your target may not be buried very deep and you wont have to dig unessisary holes and or you may at least be able to minnimize hole size and the amount of diggin you have to do  i recently found alot of shallow targets and this sped things up a little  so i could cover more ground  and find more  hope it helps you and happy hunting   josey  Detecting

I use that method to pinpoint it. I use a Garrett Propointer and know that a good solid tone means it's less then 3 inches so I'll attempt to "coin pop" it out before cutting a plug.

Thats a good tip Josey. I don't hunt parks are school yards but see some of the damage done by folks digging up a 6 in deep plug and the coin is in the grass roots 1/2 in deep.

Over here some guy was detecting on the beach and a woman rode past on a horse and shouted i hope
your gonna fill that hole, right then her horse did what horses do, And he shouted i hope your gonna
clean that up, She just laughed and rode off, at leased one or two waves would wash the sand back.
