Back to the walnut orchard  across the street today to continue my MD'ing. First hit was a small coin that was badly deteriorated and appeared to be the size of a 1 centime but due to the corrosion, I will probably never find out.. The next hit I found  involved a 1712 King Louis XIV (the coin listed as XIIII) and the mint mark indicated it was minted in Marseille, France. The coin was in fairly good condition considering the age (copy attached). Coloma Gold

very nice! what type of metal is it made out of? Try the hot peroxide on the one you cant make out. You'll be surprised, Ive had many I thought were lost causes that turned out ok.

The internet search says its made of copper, although it is very good condition (not much green corrosion on it)

a link about it. But it looks like you got a pretty nice coin. There was one really nicked up that went for over 5 euros recently and yours is in a lot better shape. With some olive oil that should clean up real nice.

yes, Ghola, I saw one for sale for $25 but it was in a little better shape. I figure mine is worth $10 or so (although I'm not in it for the money).  Just a nice little 'treasure' and piece of history. However, I think I will start to keep a little book binder with nicer coins sealed... Coloma Gold
