Go Up Go Down

Got out to do some hunting Saturday and hit a few different places.  Signals were few and far between at times in a couple of spots making for a slow day.  Clad, bling rings, scrap...then I stumble across a deep target that sounded enticing...man am I glad I dug!  Apologies for the bit of blur but I think it still gets the idea across.  Thanks for looking and HH!

SF,

Have this one checked by a reputable dealer. Plenty of these around. They were sold by a company that makes them for role playing clubs. Just saw one last Tuesday and thought it was real. The guy that had it busted out laughing at me and showed me it was fake. If you hold the seated lady side so that it is perfectly level then rotate it upwards, when it flips over the other side is offset. Also weight and color is not the same. Hope it is a real one. Worth up to 3 grand. 6 grand if it's an S.

P.S.
Look at the serated edge to see if all the serrations are smooth and same size as well do not run together. If they are it is a cast coin.

I have a nice Morgan dollar that could fool any one till you look at the serrations. Compare it to a regular coin such as clad dime or quarter. Serrations should look the same. Our coins of the 1800's up till 1950's were works of artists and something that wasn't crisp would be rejected.

A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.

Thanks for the advice and the comment.  I have looked it over closely.  Reeded edge seems to be uniform for what you would expect from an older circulated coin, looks right, sounds right, scales right, not offset, and the area I was hunting in has produced Barbers for me in the past and I always knew it dated back further so I'd say this one's legit.  I don't think it would grade high enough to be worth much though.  Here's the link to the video of the hunt with a wrap up of the finds.  In the wrap up it shows some decent detail on the coin with quite a bit of "LIBERTY"still visible.  I haven't gotten clear pics yet though.  I know it's hard to tell from video but I'd love to see what anyone thinks it may grade around or be worth if anyone wants to take a stab at it.  Not that I'll sell it...just sheer curiosity is all.  Thanks and HH!

I am not an expert, but I  would guess at least circulated fair to good condition.

And just imagine how well off you'd be now if you hadn't spent all your allowance on penny candy and sneaking in to watch the "Hootchie Coochie" of the Mutoscopes in the back room of the local Five & Dime.

That Quarter could get me a Double Matine Saturday of Buck Rogers or Sky King.  A Soda, Pop Corn and a fair size bag of candy on the way home.
