I do love to find those hard to find ones! I'm aiming for a buffalo for I'd love to find old nickels too!

Congrats on the nice find, its in very good shape. Ive had a week downtime myself my tracker4 coil got water in it, so I been drying it out, and Im not used to my pioneer ex,and dont want to make unnecessary holes. So I been toying around with it in my test garden, and my own yard, that I thought had nothing left to offer. I found another beautiful 1943 merc dime, so if you get a new machine always go back over your old spots. Foiled

No, they are not rare, but old and hard to find. I was excited because silver coins are not part of your every hunt finds. Yes, they have collector value as well as melting value, but not all rare. There are however, some Liberty Seated dimes that are really rare and valuable. For example, the 1873CC in just good conditions is worth $1,000 and uncirculated, $32,000; the 1874CC is worth $3,000 in good conditions and $34,000 uncirculated. Mine is an 1877CC, but it's worth only between $20 and $38 or whatever a collector is willing to pay for it. The rarity and value reside mainly in the mintage (or how many were made).  Teach

$20 to $38 for a $0.10 coin is still pretty good----beats the heck out of clad.

Isn't it a beauty. A coin dealer was offering the same one but in good to very good condition for $59. Mine seems to be very fine, so it may be worth a little more, I hope.  Wink
