Wow, that is in excellent shape.  How did you find it in such a good state? 105 years is plenty enough time to collect heavy patina on the surface.

Found it in a Tot lot, so it probably hasn't been in the ground very long.

Hm.  That is interesting, someone carrying something around like that.  Though, I guess it could have been in their change. Huh? Beats me, but that is the only thing I can think of.

That is pretty coo,,,  Cool

Kids will steel stuff and show it to their
friends.

Also, parents will let their kids play with
tha darndest things, just so they do not
have to deal with it,

The park is 40+ years old. The coin was 7-8 inches under 3 layers of fill. Mulch, white sand, then mulch. It also has heavy tree cover. I'm thinking the layers and the tree cover helped preserve it. It did have gunk caked on it and I cleaned it. I didn't want to polish it up. I don't think it was in the ground too long... 10-15 years? I'm not sure how often they add fill to the play grounds. I wonder if it was in the fill? Who knows. The funny thing is I wasn't going to bother digging it, but it gave a consistant reading from all directions. Lesson learned.

Hm.  I always dig the signals that have a consistent signal from all sides.  I usually take them as good targets and dig them.  Good thing you dug it!! Wink Grin
