Well, I thought I had completed a thorough search of the apricot orchard down the street but thought I would try turning up the sensitivity dial a little to see if perhaps there was just one more coin left.. Towards the end of my search, not much was found. Then I heard a faint 'hit' and decided to try even against odds. I was able to find a small, 1 centime coin (bronze). When I took it home, my wife (who does most of my research on coins) was able to determine it was a one centime. However, further review determined that it was one minted shortly after King Louis XVI was beheaded.  History revealed the french people rejected use of the Gregorian calender after the french revolution and decided to start with a different, more complicated calender. This lasted only 12 yrs after which they returned to the Gregorian calender. . The coin I found today was one within the 12 yr period and the 1 centime with this design was only minted between 1797-99. Unfortunately, it is not in good enough condition to get a photo (yes, I still need a better camera... perhaps Santa Claus will bring me one?). Coloma Gold

Nice going Coloma Gold. Was that with your XLT? I was also thinking you bought a DFX.

Hi Mudflap,

No, it was with my DFX.  I'm still tinkering and learning more about the DFX as I use it. It will take me some time before I feel that I really understand it's capabilities. This time I increased the sensitivity level (since there is not a lot of trash in this orchard) and perhaps that is why I found this coin. I had previously gone over this orchard with a lower sensitivity level. Perhaps I just missed it before or perhaps the lower sensitivity was needed to find it at a lower level. Coloma Gold
