Go Up Go Down

1st Aquatic of the year
Hit Canadian Tire and brought a new pair of chest waders and immediately went to the nearest water to test them out.  Aqua Guru was ready for the task but her headphones are damaged as is the backup and the backup to the backup.  Made it a tad on the hard side fiddling with wires during the swish (local term for water detecting).  Put in a call at an Ontario dealer to get new ones.  Um....one of the backups is brand new and never used till today and they did not work.  Garrett...gone downhill!
Planned on doing all of the fresh water off of lake beaches in the HRM but by the 7th my knees were knackered.

Can only imagine someone on shore looking at this aberration or zombie in the water  moaning, groaning and hunched over like Quasimodo with it's right arm hanging limply as it swung the coil!
"Brains.  Need more brains."

Enough was enough.  But I had rescued some aquatic life from the drink....um drink.  One two three four...and maybe some more.  Purely medicinal me son!

Best find of the day was where Marie had found a coin in the couch.  Seems like I lost it when putting coins in holders to put in my book of finds on the coffee table.  Leave it to a great lady to knock you while  down and out...and suffering!

I can relate to your pain.
I have to rewire my MarkII headphones every season.
I do replace the curly cable and the piezo speakers. (most electronics shops stock them)
the constant stretching  weaken the connections and the salt water seeps through and destroy them.
I use a length of rope through the curly cable anchored at the phones and the box long enough to stretch the cable my arms length but no more.
so when I dig to recover the target and i don't hold the detector the phone cable can only stretch the length of the rope.
I wish could explain it better I hope you can see at the pics what I mean. it works.
pity you are so far away.
I could fix them for you.

Seems like a jury rig of something you and I have paid for headphones......should not have to do that and I blame Garrett on the design.  Now have three sets and buying another.  Be safe.

i am also on the third 8" coil. the "glue" underneath was cracking and water was seeping through.
As there is no factory made, i made a makeshift skid plate out of a PVC pipe and for extra protection i wrap rope around it.
also cover the cable entry to the coil with silicon.
i am trouble free for 2-3 year now with this set up.

Cool....find that with water machines its always a wire problem especially in the headphones.  Be safe!
