Go Up Go Down

The last time I had gone metal detecting I was rather lucky! It had been a very hot and dry day, making it rather exhausting to swing my machine. Thus I had decided to hunt in a forrest, appreciating some shade over the hot sun.

I went on detecting for about 2 hours only finding empty bullets, most probably from some hunters. My next BIG find was an empty cane of coke - a full can would have come in very handy.

BUT then I got lucky. Next to a big tree, which I will have try to detect around their slope, I got a good signal.

And here is what I found: A complete and genuine Roman bracelet and necklace! Those are estimated to be about 2000 years old and still remian in very nice condition.

You may also want to look for a set of teeth and a skull in that spot.   Lips Sealed  Seems unusual to find both a bracelet and a necklace.  Could be a shallow grave lifted by a growing tree.

Hello Geroge, I think that the bracelett and necklace had probably been hidden their. Some yaears ago I found a total of 4 Romain axes in one spot.

Finding a skull would have been scary! Shocked

Hello Dean! Well, I have found some very nice old military buttion that are probably all pre 1850 as well as some nice Napoleonic era artefacts.

On some occasions I also found some tin soldier?! Shocked I assume some children must have once lost them.

WWII finds are however seldomly discovered in the South of Germany. My friend Dave Peterson had however found a cahce of WWII weapons several years agao and wrote an article on it in W&E magazine. You can read the article in the Treasure Hunting Directory on thunting.com

From what I have heared it is mainly countries like France (Normandi) and Eastern Europe that have lots of WWII relics.

I will post some pictures of my finds tomorrow.

Man, that is so cool. Shocked  I would give anything to find something like that but the things we call old in my area are about 100 years old. Tongue

Congrats and show us more.

Raider.

Great find Christian.  Were you somewhere near your home area when you found the pieces?

No, I had taken quite a long drive. Sometimes it is just nice to take a trip in the countryside, do some detecting and to have dinner afterwards. In my area there are unfortunately only little really ancient artifacts to be found.
