Go Up Go Down

Today I spent about 45 minutes at an old carnival ground that I've hunted and posted items found. I often come away with at least a couple of silver coins along with wheat and other things. What I found today was 3 wheat pennies, 1 memorial and a clad dime. When I got back to my shop I checked the dates on the coins and found that one of the wheat pennies is a 1922 with no mint mark Grin. I've yet to check the value of the coin other than knowing it is somewhat rare. I'm most grateful to my hunting buddy because he  :'(skips over most of the pennies and just searches for silver coins etc.
Here is a picture, the coin is not cleaned, hopefully you can see it well enough to make it out.. No macro lens yet..  John in Va.

I normally walk past a penny on the ground, but I'll stop my feet to pick up a wheat! Good find! Wink

great finds, how long has the area you found them on been used? is it still used today or has it been "retired?"

Stop and pick all coins. You should never turn down free money.

Hello Toleary......The area has been used for the past 70 years or so and is not in use now. According to a former owner it had been heavily hunted by detectorist, nevertheless my hunting partner and myself have found over 30 silver coins and a lot of wheat pennies in the few times we've
been there. It's just a horse pasture now.....Have a good day John in Va..

I'd love to take a picture of Bill Gates stooping down to pick up a coin! HA!

thanks for the info.  the reason i ask is i am trying to research old ball parks that are not in use anymore, and was just trying to see if the law of probability was on my side in terms of whether you had found something after others had already detected it, or if you were the first to scan the area.  seeings how you're not he first, and still having some great finds....i feel a lot better about pursuing the abandoned ball parks and fairgrounds
