58 F is still pretty dang cold, especially for anyone who lives in the southern part of the US.  Smiley   Glad you were able to get out and swing the metal detector, though.   looks like you probably had a better day than the Renault did when it lost the maker's mark.

Personally, I don't consider 11o C very cold.   My wife, on the other hand, looks like an eskimo those days.   Where I live now cold weather usually does not last long (this year seems to be an exception) and temperatures rarely get below freezing except overnight or at higher elevations.  On the other hand, between early June and early September the daily high is frequently between 40.5o and 48o C......(I'd rather deal with the temperatures between freezing and 11oC

Hi BA,we are not so lucky here im afraid,two weeks ago we had -8?c but guess who was out in the snow with his detector?Under the snow the ground was ok to dig.

As long as the ground is soft enough to dig and you can keep your fingers, toes, ears, and nose warm, why not?  What part of Germany are you in?  I went to high school at Bitburg when there was still an active US Air Force base there.

I never got quite that far north.   The closest I ever got was K?ln.   I did spend a lot of time exploring the area between Aachen and Saarbr?cken.
