Go Up Go Down

Hi nice people . I used  to MD long ago (20 years) and i started again for the favor of my boys. (myself included). Here is 2 of my finds . The one looks like
an old round bullet . Taking in consideration the nice black patina on it must be old and not something like modern machinery traction ball. it responds to magnet so it is a ferrous metal but nicely plated with yellow color metal  , i dont   know what.
The second one looks as a coin  but a lot of damage on  it like it was part of a big fire.  it has a logo'' 1/2 PIASTRE SYRIENNE '.IT REFERS TO THE 1/2 PIASTRE SYRIENNE MINTED in 1921 from the bank of Syria

It looks like a .177 copper clad BB to me. From an air gun. Can't tell the size because there's nothing near it for a reference.

Could be from a ball bearing and that it just oxidized to that color, musket ball are made from lead and ball bearings are not copper plated. doesn't leave many options now then does it?

Since the 1980s, almost all shotguns used worldwide are using steel shot for bird hunting. The shot is plated to not scrape the barrel up too much but it does keep the birds from getting lead poisoning (not the ones being shot). When only one or two pellets hit a bird, the others fall down and can be eaten by living birds and that drove the change to steel.

Mind you, this one probably isn't a shot pellet because he said it is 1cm in diamter. That's around 5/8" to the rest of the world. Much too big for shot pellets. Since it looks quite round, the bearing idea is probably correct. Kids love to carry that sized bearing in with their marbles when they play. They call them "steelies."
