It's a kind of a cast iron--almost like a black iron fry pan.  I've since closed up the patina with some olive oil.

I had a look for it but only came up with similar  Iron and same wheels .   Seems to be dated around the 30's.

Heelty made some simular.  Any markings on the under side ? Inside the hollow top ?

Ya, 30's is about right.  Did look again for any markings--nada. Came from ten feet where I got a "Joe E. Brown" premium ring a few years back = $150 USD--not a bad find.  As you can see this beach was quite lively in the 30's.  Grade is not far from what's shown there either.   Tip--When  you have a historical photo like this one to reference, get down on one knee like Arnold Palmer and eye the footing of any structures to see how much reclaimation has been done.
