Go Up Go Down

Ok, so being new to MD'ing  and yet to find anything of value, I decide to hit a local park
that was part of an old homestead from the 1850's. Brilliant! Maybe I will finally find my
first bit of silver, maybe even a cool old artifact. So wrong...so very wrong.

I found an old penny early, cool, and 2 loonies in the same hole, looks like a good start!
Then I found another penny, and another.....and another. In the end I have 2 toonies,
3 dimes and 41 PENNIES(oldest being '63) arrg my knees are killing me. Of course there
was all the other usual trash as well. I ignored a ton of sigs too.

So my question is this. Do I bother with this spot again? I mean it seems there hasn't been
a detector over this spot for some time if ever. I have to assume someone tossed the pennies
at some point, there were just too many in a small park. They must have hurled handfuls.

Hi DD,
Dont give up on the park if there are that many coins you can bet no one has looked it over. I see three dimes one looks like it maybe silver the one on the right? Are you in ONT?
Take care of those knees I just had mine replaced, use knee pads if this is going to be a life long hobby you need to start using some form of protection for them "says me after 40 years of not using them"....HH.........Johnnn....Here"s a pic of some of my Canadian and Us coins to keep you encouraged,

Oh my gawd am I stiff and sore today. But I see blue sky, so I will be heading out again :p

The dime is a '97, so no luck there, but it did look promising when I first pulled it out, but
not too much as I found a quarter the week before that looked similar but was a '96. So, I know
what silver doesn't look like now.

Funny thing is I always wanted to detect since I was little, never really had the money or time
it seemed. But, one day I realized I was a big kid now(47 Wise) and if I wanted to do something I best do
it now before its too late. Also, I thought this would be a great low impact activity to keep me
moving and healthy in the golden years. Wow, it will certainly keep me moving that's for damn sure.

So, the park. I think I may go back there time to time, and make it my mission to clean every piece
of junk out of there. Who knows, my first silver may pop up in amongst the junk, one hole I dug yesterday
did have a nail, pull tab, and one of my pennies in it. But, for today, a different part, maybe the beach.

Hi, Dirk!  If it were me, I'd go back and detect that park again and again.  You never know what some of those signals you ignored might be!  But for sure you will never know if you don't dig them.   Nice finds!  Keep on diggin'!              Detecting

Thats the best advice you can get.
Go back and dig all those signals. You are on a good spot. There is no rule that dictates where people will loose valuables.

Dirk, You must get back there right away because you might of given someone else the same idea so hit it hard and grid the whole area and don't let it rest till its done or you will loose whats there then when you are happy you have dug everything, then hit it again until things stop turning up.

good luck,, AU

But... but... sooo much junk. I would be better off with a backhoe and a sifter.

They must have used so really messy fill or something, didn't expect this much trash(nails etc) in something that has been a park
as long as I can remember.

But yeah, I should hit it a few more times :p
