Go Up Go Down

My treasure hunting pals and I sometimes hit one of the local parks for an hour or two after working third shift at the factory, well Thursday was the day this time.
In my first hole I dug a pull tab and following the advise I got on this board I passed the coil over my hole and got a silver hit. With a tiny bit more digging I came up with a 1928 Standing Liberty Quarter! It was standing on edge leaning on a tree root.
With a quick pass around to show off I set back to swinging coil and came up with a weird find ; a skeleton foot of a bird with a metal band on the leg bone. (I don't know if someone would like to be contacted about it's wereabouts or not).
After a few clad coin hits I got a hit that sounded like a pull tab ; with my dig everything policy (even though I had dug at least a dozen pull tabs already today) I dug. At about 4.5" I found my first GOLD ring.It is a 10 karat class ring in very good shape.
Our groups policy is that if you can identify the owner it needs to be returned so I went on line and found the address of the owner and I put it in the mail to him today.I know if I was him I'd be thrilled to get it back.
I have to admit I did look up how much I could get for it and it would have been a nice down payment for a better detector....

Cool Finds for sure!    With the price of Gold as it sits, Your returning of the ring is most commendable.

You should read here and do another Good Deed on that bird band.

Congrats! and yep, if you want gold you better be digging nickles and tons of pulltabs! Ive had a great week of detecting also, I need to take some pics and post my finds  Detecting

OH about the bird........Contact your local DNR to find out if it was their tag, or who it might belong to. Birds are tagged for many reasons, but I know they would like to know where it landed for its last time for their research! lol
