Wait.....if they bit down on them, I would think that they would get possible lead poisoning? I mean, I would think so.  Of course, everyone is subject to their own opinions.

Hay MI,

They did not know that lead would hurt you.

They even used lead in drinking water lines into the 1900s.

I worked on a three million dollar project to replace all the
old lead water lines in the city of Gurdon, AR in the 1990s.
It took years to complete.

And there is still lead in the environment. They did not know
it would hurt you when they put it there.

Now we do.

It is just one of tha invisable dangers we face in life,

Tabdog

I believe it wasn't until the 1960's that they found out lead can actually harm people.  It just struck me and I put it down. Grin

tabdog;

The ones of which I spake, were not all in Texas:
My great grandpa Keith, was in Missouri, and his family were originally Quakers;

My great grandpa Wyrick was in Missouri Ozarks and Kansas, died in Idaho;

My great great grandpa Stone was in Texas but he wasnt a preacher, he was a school teacher, as was his son, my great grandpa, they left Texas, about 1892 and went to Oregon, then Washington, and he went back to Texas, later;

My great great grandpa Hollenbeck originally lived in Albany, NY and went to Oregon after the war.

My great grandpa Stone is buried at Battleground ,Washington and his father, My great great grandfather Napoleon Stone, is buried near Smithville, Texas.

My paternal grandma was born in Texas about 1892, just 2 years before they left. My maternal grandma was born at Viola, Kansas and there is a story attached to that.

With all this familial moving here and there, I inherited itchy-foot genes, so I find it hard to sit in one place! Waveing

How both sides of my family wound up in northern Canada is two different tales, or three, or four. I still have relatives in Missouri, Washington, Idaho  and Texas.... I used to correspond with a cousin, at Marionville, Missouri, in the 50s.

I wish I knew ALL the different stories, I would write a book.

As for my great great grampa Wyrick being a blackbirder, that came from my aunt and I dont know where she got it, he sure never had anything to do with the south seas! He was just a travelling preacher. Whats worse, my gramma said we were down the tree from the famous Winthrop of the Boston colony and Long Island.... can you just imagine?

If I laid it out on paper, as a document, I could get one of those silly certificates. As they say here: Mah! As if!

Oh, but genealogy is fun, almost as much fun as metal detecting, but less healthy.

Brian AKA goldigger (They is some Indians in that tree, too.)

How fast was it going when it struck you? Are you hurt? Need a medic?

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Ah man, you should have been there!! This cocky bloke just threw that piece of lead at my head, I figured he was a baseball player by the size of the welt and how fast he threw it.  He was gone in a second, just hit me out of nowhere!! Grin
