Go Up Go Down

Rained most of the day and shortly before I got off work it stopped.  I went to an area where I thought I had permission for a grass field to detect but I was wrong, only plowed fields and planted wheat fields so I detected a plowed field that still had some wheat stubble as I was burning daylight.  Found two plain buttons, an air inflation needle for balls and this nice buckle dating from 1500-1650, found the same in my buckle book.

The following are pictures of one prize I won on a forum, all of it and a few relics I did not include.  They came with two nice display cases.  The most awesome prize I have won on a forum contest, it is great to touch history!.  The first picture are relics from the Boer (Farmer) War fought in South Africa from 1899-1902.  A cannon friction primer, 4 British coat buttons, two canvas buttons, a cannon primer, two different lead canister shot, 4 bullet casings from a British 303 and Boer Martini Henri and another type o Boer casing.
{alt}
Several examples and calibers of CW bullets, one bullet was converted into a musket nipple protector.
{alt}
A partial Infantry Eagle Breast Plate, the left plate is a replica.  This will make a nice display.
{alt}
Civil War relics.  A bayonet scabbard tip, partial Infantry insignia, 3 percussion caps, cannon friction primer, 3 knapsack hooks and a D ring and a CW button.  What an awesome prize, Thanks John!!!  HH, Mike

Thanks for sharing, Mike.  We think it is awesome that you are getting a permit to search around Trier.  That should be one of the better spots in Germany considering the big Roman town at Trier.  There might be some good WWII finds as well.

I was sent one of those Boar War friction primers..I saw photos where the guys found near 10 of them..I wanted to display it beside the CW friction prime I had ( and you have photoed) very differant!!!.

As for the infantry bugle badge you have..there is a guy in the US that can repair  it..and you can't tell...he repairs some really busted up dug items..and they still look dug.

Great stuff you have there.

Dean
