Go Up Go Down

Talk about finds right under your nose, I recently got permission to search an old home right across the street from my home,
the finds were:
14 quarters,38 clad pennies,2 wheats, 10 dimes, 1 nickel, a brass knob, a candle sniffer, rifle shell casing, 2 matchbox toys, a small buckle of some sort, eave hanger and lots of other metal pieces,
The one thing I learned about the owners of the house was that they liked their Pabst Blue ribbon beer, (lots of bottle caps)
And I am not finished with the back yard yet.
Would post the pics, but I keep getting the message that they are too large?

The title of your post says "abandoned home." How were you able to locate its owner. I know of a few old houses I'd love to have a chance to detect their yards, but my issue is how to locate anyone for permission. Nice finds by the way!

I know that you can look up in the property appraisers web site and you can get the owner's name and address. This is where they send the tax bill

Thats the easiest way but you may ask the close by property owners often time they can put you in touch with the owners.

Although the owner is in a nursing home, her son does come to cut the grass oonce in a while, I got permission from him as he is the caretaker of the property.

jcbroj,  that is quite a haul. What is your oldest coin?  I like old house places. If the house is gone you can sometimes figure out where it was by the flower beds that come up in the spring. Tulips and lillies especially.

One quick piece of info to consider guys:

Since IKE lots of home have been abandon on the island and taken over by the city. One of the locals got permission to hunt them but was harassed by the cops giving tickets for trespassing lots of trouble for very little return. He did get all the tickets dismissed and finally got a letter from the city that keep the cops off him. If its the city are a private owner get something in writing if the owner is not going to be around while you hunt.
