These medals are unfortunately of poor quality. This matters especially as much of the fertilizer thrown onto the fields will further damage the material. In the end it will only take a couple more years and many of these cheaper medals will be way beyond a collectable or restorable state of condition.

That's another interesting factor when it comes to the condition of collectables- fertilizer. Nice finds.
