Those target rich areas are good for finding Slave Tags.

Those are really nice finds. Have you ever found an artillery shell? I think I would be afraid to dig one. How do you know or tell if it is still has the charge ?

Hi Mudflap.
I have found a bunch of shells that were live, they were Mortor shells "I have sent you a pic" they had not detonated because the ground was too soft, I only handled them because I recognized them to be "smoke" shells and water logged.
I think if you were detecting in France or other European countries the shells would be more leathal and better left alone.............HH....Johnnn

Thanks for keeping the smoke out of the hands of the young'uns  (would have been a big temptation for me when I was an early teen)

Absolutely right BA, as the military hand back land for public use they do not do a thoughrough job of cleaning it up or they have lost records of the type of ordnance they were using at a location.
Where as a younger more curious detectorist would want to lite a fire under these things I / you find some deep water and toss em in.......Johnnn
