Is this stone precious or its just an ordinary stone. it was found seating on a cement block around 10 feet underground found in one of our treasure digs here in the Philippines. this is originally 2.5 kilos but we break it since we suspect that there might be diamonds inside. somebody claim that it might belong to the family of jade stone.

Black stones are seldom precious and jade, whether jadeite or nephrite is never crystalline, always amopuous or even fibrous... if too fibrous it tends toward being asbestos, which IS fibrous.

The crystals look familiar, but I will have to do some research, because I do not think black is the usual colour. This rock would only interest a rock collector, like me and I am CHEAP, so cheap, I would not buy it, but if I tripped on it, I might pick it up and keep it.

Hi, The stone you have found is Garnet, One of the pieces you are showing would be a great specimen for a collector, If you find pieces that are transparent they can be faceted and can be sold.

Garnet....

I thought so, but the crystals are a bit unusual, compared to locally. I did not want to say so, without being sure and I can not find my darn rock book!

Particularly the third image you've posted looks like garnet.  Very pretty specimen!
