first of all hi to everyone,im new to the detecting scene and got my first detector today,so i tried it out in the garden,and found this,but dont know what it is,im hoping someone can help,looks a bit like a bottle opener to me but im not sure.

thanks for the advice there,ill do that next time i post anything,the object measures 5 inch in length the ring at the top measures around 1 and half inches,hope this helps.

Just a guess based on shape, but it looks to me like it was designed to hold a flat piece (or a bowl shaped piece, maybe) while it was being hammered, sort of like tongs or vise grips....so I'd look at metal working tools for a match.

I looks more like something designed to hang loosely from a bar or pole. The smaller piece looks like it is shaped to just stay in place when the screw is tightened. Like it's designed to slide on a bar or rope. Best I can do... Huh?

HI Shaunbt. your find to me looks like a water pipe clamp or holder. the triangle part would be laid in the bed joint of a brick wall and the pipe would be fastend in the clamp part.    only my idea.    Tunstall.
