I just started metal detecting last year and was wondering what the average amount of coins people find?  I usually detect for about 2-3 hours and find about 80 cents on average.

That is hard to say, one place I hunt I can hunt for 4 hr and get 5 coins but they are silver or Wheaties. Another place I get 3 to 6 bucks plus the odd piece of jewelry in 30 mins every Monday morning during the summer.
Hey if your outside enjoying yourself and finding a good find from time to time why keep count.

I too figure its a hobby its for fun if you go and actually find something you want to keep to collect or even to sale then all the better its just an added bonus.
