I found this quarter size Panamanian coin on a trip to North Carolina. If my history is correct. Balboa was the guy who crossed over to the pacific ocean at Panama. That the Panamanians would have a conquistador on their money shows how much they revere their Old world heritage. I guess. Detecting

I did a little research on this coin. It was minted in 1966 the year Panama went to Clad! It is a quarter balboa. the balboa was the unit if money.

BA, I'd trade a hand full of 66s for just one 65! The sites I visited left me a little confused about the silver content of panamanian coins. One said that Panama used the same standard as the US as far as silver content. Another said the silver content was higher. also apparently Panama didn't go to clad all at once. Some coins remained silver for longer than others and within years there was some mixing of metal content on some coins.  Detecting
