Today I went to an old carnival grounds in an adjacent county and found the following.

18 wheat pennys, 3 mercury dimes, 1 rosevelt dime, 1 1928 canadian penny

I've hunted this site twice before recently, about 2 to 3 hrs each time. These hunts produced the following.

14 wheat pennys, 4 rosie dimes, 2 merc dimes and 4 silver Wash. quarters. In addition to those listed I found about $6.00 in clad coins and a baby's silver ring. The clad coins are not shown in the photo.

My settings on the Minelab SE Pro were those of Bryce Brown's "Deep Coin" program shown in Andy Sabisch's Handbook for the E-trac and Explorer. Seem to work well.
This particular site I hunted was suppose to be hunted out according to a lady that was present and tending to a horse.

That's a good haul.....and it just goes to show why we tell folks to get their noses in the old newspapers and the local history books to find out where the carnivals, fairs, tent revivals, etc were. Parks are great, especially if you want clad, but if you want older stuff, you've got better odds if you figure out the old gathering places (which may be in one of the older parks or it may be in an old field).
