Silver is almost never found in a nugget form. Most people don't realize that silver in it's raw form is usually black, and most people would walk right over it and never even know it. Yes there is some silver that has been eroded or scratched or whatever that has the shine, but most of it would never be recognized. Some silver was "refined" by old time miners into pieces that looked like nuggets, but most f the time it would be poured into cold water and would turn into beads. I would look at some photos of Platinum. As a gold prospector I often find platinum nuggets, and i's not all that uncommon to find them. In it's purest form (like refined) platinum is much "whiter" than the nugget form. What you really need to do is weigh it, check it's specific gravity, or to make it a lot easier, take it to a coin dealer or jeweler. They will tell you what you have.

I would bet it's melted foil. I have found similar looking lumps of metal and they were melted foil or cans. If you want to do the specific gravity test, pure silver has a specific gravity of roughly 10.49. I hope you get this figured out. Best of luck

You all got my attention...Why could'nt it be lead like this pc. I tryed washing it and thats the dark side. Than I just scratched it as you can see the shiny spot  near the middle. Tomorrow I will take it to the shop and wire brush it and post a new photo of it here.  I find lead everwhere from folks melting, making there own fish'in weights?  Its heavy. Am I rich and did'nt know it? I have more....

I have not one but all my fingers crossed with hopes that you struck silver.I have looked at the pics and it does look kinda like the melted aluminum that I been digging up out of my back yard.It would seem that and old garage or shed that had aluminum siding burnt down years ago in the back yard.

That's a neat silver test Homes, thanks for the tip. I'll keep that in mind....  Great

Shocked

I learned that one by mistake one day.

I had a 1/4 silver ingot on a chain and used the stuff.

Looking in the Mirror, I fund my chain and Ingot had transformed to the most cool blue color.

I cleaned it up and put some shampoo on it.

Bammmmmmm!

Blue again.

Have Fun.   Great

There was a website I looked at one time that offered a service of turning silver coins into a beautiful rainbow of cobalt blue and then lighter colored blues.ow I wonder if they just used shampoo to color the coins. I had also never heard of this occurring. I'm going to have to go try it now. I have a bunch of old worn Walking Liberty silver quarters. I've been waiting or this big silver bump I've been hearing was supposed to happen,"by the end of this year" for the past 3 years. Maybe until they are worth that $50 they talk about I can just play with them and color them.
Keep Diggin'
