Mike, that's quite an assortment of coins.  But the pint of Guinness after the hunt was probably just as satisfying, wasn't it?

Great finds.  My family visited ROI in June.  Our first trip but won't be the last.  Beautiful country and most welcoming, friendly folks I've encountered on my travels.

Does look a bit stormy, but still very photogenic. Nice silver and collection of finds, too. Picture perfect beer - I laughed when I saw that. Looks like you are having a very good time! Sue

its more then satisfing, the Irish are great, and as for the laws to metal detecting no one givs a f..k ,,the people are just so relaxed,a few people asked did you find atin(any thing),Ive enjoyed it so much and I will be back again,ok no celtic or viking finds this time but who knows, theres allways the next hunt, but it was the enjoyment and fresh air hunting the Dublin bay area, and as for the weather well its cold and stormy the Irish sea is not friendly to night so you got to respect her, will see If I can get out tomorrow morning should be some good finds there after the storms,,,,,now time for a Guinness,,,mike quote author=BitburgAggie_7377 link=topic=10298.msg64865#msg64865 date=1262189850]

Mike, that's a great haul and a brilliant sixpence! Looks to be over the normal silver content or am I mistaken? Looks to be 90% silver instead of the 60%. Did they change the ratio sometime in the past?

Thanks for the Guinness, mate. I hoist my morning coffee in your general direction and will have the stout later. Did you hear about the fire at the brewery last week? Happened while you were there so you may not have heard about it. Saved the Guinness Brewery but some major damage.

I'm off to stay at a pals cottage on the Mull of Galloway over New Year, the other side of the Irish Sea. Am taking my detector but the tide times aren't good and I've not tried the beaches up there. Will just have to see how it pans out.

You have a full moon over this New Year's Eve so enjoy the tides at the best times. Nobody to bother you either.
