GD, That is hilarious!!! I am somewhat into blacksmithing and collecting blacksmith tools and that is exactally what I tell my wife every time I see a good deal on an anvil. "You can't have too many anvils"....Maybe I'll sell one or two and buy me a good machine.

Sometimes I feel as if I am a golfer standing in front of his bag deciding which club to use. "Let's see now. A Garrett or Tesoro? Which shall it be? Ooh! The Minelab! Yes, that's the ticket!"

So GD, which one would you buy if you had to have only one?

Seldom, Yes the movers hate me, I retired in June and will get back to smithing soon. Problem I have is in a neighborhood like mine you have to keep the early morning clanging to a minimum.

If I had to have only the one, it would have to be the one that makes the best return on the investment in terms of dollars from treasure. That would have to be the Sea Hunter. By far, the greatest return for time spent hunting is in the water near the swimming areas. I don't do it very often because it takes longer to replenish than other areas but each item found is either junk or something of high value. Nothing in between.

GD, I understand. I went to a treasure hunting club meeting last month and one of the finds on display there was a gold cross set with diamonds about 3" tall. value about $2000. He found it on a beach I think in front of a ritzy hotel of course he wouldn't say.

I have a couple of Garretts but I have found that my Tesoro Silver Sabre II is more reliable as far as false signals go. At first I didn't like the depth of the Tesoro, but I've had it for about 15-16 years and a lot of times now I won't even get out my Garretts when I arrive at the hunt site. It's also a good, cheap detector for sponsored, paid hunts. I know it doesn't have a meter etc. but I still like the Tesoro, and I think I paid $168 for it when I bought it brand new. Just my opinion.
