Go Up Go Down

My wife asked what I wanted to do for father's day, so yep, went metal detecting, haha...

Found my first really good finds. Found them in an old park. I have been there a couple times before and just found junk and clad.

Locket opens up and is .925 SS

Indian head is an 1895, I think I can still clean it a little more, just rinsed it with water, but still see lots of caked dirt on it. Can read liberty on the part of band I can see. This is my first coin besides modern clad so I was stoked.

Old spoon (any ideas on date?)

and and old set of glasses that appear to be gold plated.

3 clad dimes and 1 zinc and 1 copper penny

Welcome to THunting and Happy Father's Day. I see this is your first post. Very nice job on the locket and the Indian Head. Go to the Cleaning Techniques section to learn about different ways to clean your coins. My most recent IH I put in the rock tumbler for a couple of hours and came out relatively clean. My first one was an 1880 really covered by green corrosion so I used electrolysis and all the green stuff and encrustation came out quickly. The green stuff eats up the copper. See my recent post on the 1907 Indian Head. HH  Wink

Great finds, still on learning curve with my machine & not really finding anything of value - just a few modern coins!

Thanks for the comments, glad to find this site.

Yeah, it just rained the past 2 days, so was very wet. It was about 6-8 inches.
