It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Thanks guys ! I might get it appraised. Gotta keep my first gold find. But, it'd be cool to see if the stones are real , and what it might be worth.

Very Nice, I bet that was a great surprise. I have never dug up a ring yet but look forward to it. HH   Camo

Thanks guys ! It was a huge suprise. And , I almost missed it. I had gotten a pretty normal sounding tone. Took a scoop , and rechecked the hole.  I got a slightly different tone coming from the hole. So , I dumped my scoop and was about to take another scoop . Then, something told me to check the mud that I had just dumped out. ( Probably because I had two different tones ) I scan the area I had dumped the first scoop , and get a great sounding tone. I skimed the bottom with my scoop , pull it up , and was staring at a gold ring. Could not believe it. Had a girl standing about six feet from me watching. So I stealthily palmed the ring in my scoop and then dropped it in my pouch and zipped it closed. When she asked what I had found , I answered " a quarter ". She was unimpressed , and moved on.  Wink
