Congratulations! That's a good start! When hunting near a river try to keep close to the shore or best hunt around bridges. Somtimes you can also find stuff by dumping a strong magnet that you have tied to a string / rope from a bridge. This may get you lot's of junk but may also result in some good finds.

Also old settlements used to be near rivers. They would have built their homes up on hills.

Let us know what you find and good luck hunting,

Christian

Good tips Christian, I would not have thought to drop a magnet. Your right bout the old settlers as I've heard that many a times and matter of fact.....where I live first settlers were on a bit of a hill and not far from a creek. I'm just waiting for crop to come off before detecting it.
Billder....Thumbs up.... There is treasure everywhere!
Dean.....How you doing?  Wink

I tried the river today. The odd thing was my metal detector responded to a rock?It said there was coins in it.Could a coin get into a rock.Or what is it?

Maybe it was something that was under the rock or maybe it was a "hot rock".

I move it out of the way and checked the ground. And it only responded to one part of the rock.
