Go Up Go Down

I finally got out detecting yesterday for the first time in months. Between work, school, trying to buy a house, and unseasonably wet weather there hasn't been much time for detecting. I managed to escape for an hour and went down to a tot lot across town (all wooden posts makes detecting much easier). I found my first nickles... my detector has told me many times that I was about to dig up a nickle but I never did usually foil. I also found my first ring, cheap plated copper but still a ring. My wife immediately claimed the ring and it turned her finger green in less than an hour. I found two pendants i'm guessing they are also cheap. So for the 45 min or so that I detected I found 2 quarters, 10 pennies all post 2000, 4 nickles, half of a snap, half of a zipper, and a hair clip. It was a good hunt and I'm looking forward to getting out again.

PS.
Working on pictures but I cant seem to post them. Did the file size get reduced? I thought it was 500 mb. I can't get my camera to take pictures smaller that about 320 mb. I'll work on that. I know I saw a zip file download somewhere on here.

I can't find the one GD posted.

I've used this one without problems.

One thing I do is use Paint that comes with windows. I mainly photograph coins, so I want just the coin showing. I copy the section just showing the coin then paste for a new picture. Just doing that will cut down the size by a lot. The one below is only 61 kb but the full picture was over 500 kb.

Congrats on the ring - you did the right thing - turning it over to the wife  Smiley Sorry it turned her finger green, but it was the find and thought that counted. Keep hunting - you'll find nice ones for her - maybe even a nice  one for yourself!

At present, the file size limit for each picture seems to be around 700k and the maximum for a post 2m. Attached is a copy of the Photo Resizer program for Windows that you can use. It's free to full members in the Downloads area and even newbies right here if they read your post. It does not need to install, which is a rarity for most bloated software that use Windows.

Also, ignore the error message and just say OK. The file name will appear in the attachment list and go up even though the site thinks it is too big.

There are a lot more goodies in the downloads area. Treasure books, prospecting plans and metal detector plans.
