Go Up Go Down

Good day Hector  Cheesy
What I am about to tell ya breaks a lot of rules to MD but its what I did when I first started and it worked for me...I found
the silver coin I was looking for and then another and another and so on..The only reason I am telling you this is I have read several of your posts and it appears
that you have one thing in mind to find and it was the same for me and still is.....{SILVER COINS}

Here it goes and hope nobody yells at me....
First of all you have to cover a lot of ground.Set your discrim. up to were you are rejecting everything up to just hitting
pennies, yes that means no nickels and no gold but that is what you have to do in order to cover a lot of ground.

It will work as long as you are hunting a area that contains silver coins, this setup may not find a deep silver coin
but if their is one laying within 6 inchs I think you will find it.
Once you start to find those silver coins you will start to lower your discrim. and start looking for those nickels just as
I do. Until I started to find silver I skipped over the nickels and PULL TAPS untill I new I could find silver with my MD.
Its out their you just have to make the most of your time and cover a lot of ground in order to find it.

PS...Nickels are not silver except war nickels which have very little silver in them anyway but yes you will skip over the
gold also...Its up to you if your willing to skip some to find some SILVER

Good luck and look forward to your first posting-picture of that first silver coin  Cheesy Cheesy

Many thanks for the time taken to provide valuable info!
I've actually been trying the opposite approach, moving very slowly and running disc WAY down, then when I get ANY hit, I switch to all metal to have a better "look". If the trash is very low, I run in all metal to look way deep.
The problem with running high disc is, lost depth and some pull tabs still hit like a silver coin at 6-7" Shocked
I've been showing all my finds lately along with the trash with hopes that some wiser detectorist will tell me I'm digging too much or too little.  Teach
I have actually found 2 Mercs and a 35% nickel but with the amount of time and ground I've covered, one would think that more would have come along by now.  Angry
When I see vids of guys pulling 4-5 silver coins up in one day, I say "why can't that be me?"  Huh?
It bugs me that a large aluminum bottle cap hits harder and deeper than a real silver dollar.  No no!
My detector won't pay for itself in clad at this rate, no matter how much time I put in.  No no!
Been going for rings, jewelry, whatever but the original intent was to scoop up some lost silver coins and whatever else I find along the way Great

Go Up Go Down

In the years I have MD I have only found 2 rings.I think 95% of the rings are found on the beach or in the
water.Their are no beachs around were I live. :(I have spent many of hours digging those hits that I hoped
would be gold but as I said I have only found 2 rings [1 14crt gold plated and 1 small silver]
With the setup I gave you yes you will still hit some aluminun here and their but not constantly digging
bottle caps and pulltabs.
The last ring I found hit the same as a nickel and thats why I probably found it.
I am getting older and the old back can't dig 69,732 holes to hopefully find that one gold ring.If I happen to find
one great but for now I'll just keep looking for those silver and old coins Cheesy
Should I ever get closer to the water then you betcha I'll be out their looking for that jewelry....

Good luck and keep on diggin  Shocked

People in the most absurd places lose the rings. Wherever they play, walking the dog, or at work. Ask your friends, where they have lost jewelry. Do not give up hope, lots of rings waiting for you.  Amen
