Yes it is.     Some have Scruples and some don't.     Some want to just flat out RIP you off.

You can't even buy Gold Bars with confidence any more.  They drill them out an insert Tungsten bars within.    Both ring up in the 19 specific gravity range.    No X Ray I now of can see in gold.

Wow! That is a huge night out, isn't it? LOL

Gold is way up and a 9k ring still has some in it so celebrate! On the other hand, don't be surprised if it is not actually 9k. Despite the low ratio, it may have been marked higher than the actual content by those jewelers in the Pacific Rim area near you. My daughter's best friend bought a huge amount of 19k gold jewelry in Bali only to find out it was 8-10k at best when she returned to Perth. Anyone can buy a hallmark stamp or even laser engrave the jewelry. I no longer trust a hallmark unless the piece is an antique and even then, I am cautiously optimistic about it.

When you find jewelry that has a 10KP stamp on it don't jump to the conclusion that it's plated. The P stands for Plum meaning that it can contain no less than 10K gold.

Its Not  "Bali" ring.
here some photos of the ring after been cleaned.
its marked 9k also marked with the size of it 61
and has a date 22-12-67.

the way i see it is if the person got the ring in 1967 and lost it with in 5 years of the time he got it,
then the ring was in the water for at least 43 years.enough time in the salty water for the alloy to turn green
