Hi  Antony

That ring is so cool, it's just like the one I saw in a Cleopatra movie, thanks for sharing that with us.

when I was younger and fear was not part of my vocabulary.

Well I was the same till one day while out hunting snakes for my pets I decided to climb up a tree and pull of the barque to find snake WELL I did and it was no ordinary snack it was a black viper known as the black mamba one of SA's most dangerous snack's and had I been bitten by it I would have died within the next few minutes (I was only 10) she I say she because when I puled of the barque from the tree she went past my nose with her young's about six of them, I never ever went snake hunting again. I still get the shivers when I think how lucky I was that day.

All the best

Wow X, quite the story man, glad you made it through ok.  We have our dangerous animals up here in Canada, but most look at us as a food source Smiley   Polar Bears, although very awesome to watch, are one of the most dangerous bears up in the north.   Many stories about how a fellow would go out for a pee at a poker game, or a few buddies deciding to drink off camp to avoid fines, and never being heard from again.   I used to think my uncle was pulling my leg about them, until I started to hear them from a few other old timers who worked up there.

I have seens pics of the most ferocious bear ( The grizzly) having cubs with the the most fearless bear (the polar bear).  If that species ever gets a foot hold, I would not want to be near them around meal time.

Antony - That ring is awesome, I can't waitto find a cool find like that.  Congrats again.

 Hi CCSportsdad

I have only seen bears on TV or in the Zoo but I have read stories about them, I had never heard the story that you have just told us SCARY don't drink or you'll be eaten alive WHhhaaa. On the other hand there was an expedition to the north pole in the early 1900 well they never made it but their remains were found about 100 years later and they establish that they had been eaten by bears. (Polar)

Most bears, if respected correctly, are not a problem.   I have gone camping in the past and came over a rise to see a bear digging through my tent.   We said hello to it, and it took off.   We gave it the proper distance as it was leaving, then it no longer bothered us, even though we saw it a few more times that week.

The guy in this documentary is not all there I don't think-

- but it's a good one for bear footage.   Trying to find the one I saw on Churchill Manitoba, that one was very interesting.  On Halloween when the kids are out, there is a guy with a rifle on every corner watching for bears.  In one scene they are talking to a lady about the bears when they hear a scratching on the back door, they go to check it out and a polar bear is trying to get in the house to eat.

Antony - sorry for Hijacking your awesome finds thread with all this bear talk, I won;t do it again Smiley

Everything ok! ;)These are interesting stories. I live in Western Crimea. A large part of this area is steppe. There are no large animals, but there are many poisonous. Such as snakes, spiders, scorpions, etc.
