Go Up Go Down

God day ladies and gents. My name is Alisdair  and I have been around this site as a guest for some time , have enjoyed your posts very much and realize this is a great place to get some advice.
So here's my problem. I have been asked by an elderly couple to help find the ladies wedding band and engagement ring . Lost somewhere in a 4 or 5 acre field 3 or 4 years ago .
They know exactly where they were within 50 feet. After 17hours searching still no rings.
So my question is how deep do we think it has sunk into the soil in  4 years.. I've pulled over 400 targets within 4 inches of the surface but still no luck.
Using mainly whites mxsport, minelab xtera50 and for good measure minelab eureka gold.
Any search advice would be greatly appreciated .
Merry Christmas to all

welcome to the forum.
keep looking
4 inches I think you are in range, the ring will be there
unless someone pick it up all ready
 OR
usually people think they lost something at the place they realize they don't have it any more.
very often it was lost somewhere else.
double your search area.
What type of ring was it?
if gold do you know how many carats?

Probably is still there. I lost a ring in my backhyard while working on the car and knew the area of  2 x 4 meters. Hunted for that ring off and on for several years and one day was tuning up the detector and found it right where I thought it was and it was only about 4" deep!!

Yep, Unless a  Bird or a Rodent carted it elsewhere it's most likely still there.

Thanks for the input folks
I ll keep at it for a few more hours over the next week or 2. I've taken into consideration the wildlife and possibility of it having been found already and I believe that is the case here.  I'm probably the last hope in recovering it
As the owner put it... 'each of them are worth more than your truck.....just for the record I drive a brand new Ram 1500 lol. Certainly worth searching for .
Both rings are cifferent sizes, thick wedding band with a dozen sparkly things and tiny wedding ring with a great big one. 😊
Planning a search on Wed and I think what I'll do is stop digging the easy finds and concentrate on the faint quite signals for a few hours and see what turns up. Fingers Xd.
Think I'll change my prfile name to Fingers Xd

NO. You should dig every peace of anything that make a sound.
good, bad or any sound.especially big Bad sounds.
detect with NO discrimination.
perhaps a bad target  masking the rings.
perhaps they are next to something that you recognize when it beeps as a bad target and you never dig it up.

Agreed. In this case dig every warble or wobble sound  until you figure out what did it.
