Hi,
I found this artifact recently, but nobody can give me an identification.
I found this artifact on a field very close to an Anglo Saxon mount.
The artifact is a wild bore design and made from copper alloy.
Thank you

It may be a Roman fibula. Can you put a ruler next to it or tell us how long and wide it is?

It does look like a fibula with the clasp broken off. The experts on such things may be along soon. Ask Christian, the admin about it. He'll know.

Hi GoldDigger,
Thank you for your reply, I always thought it is a brooch. Other people argue that it is too chuncky and thick.
regards
Udo

Hello Udo,

I believe that it is not a Fibula. A Fibula usually has some curvature while this piece is very straight. Also I see no place where its needle may have been. I tend towards some sort of Jewellery probably from around 1700 - 1900.

Regards,

Christian

Have you found any other artifacts in the same area that might help narrow down our choices?

Thanks, Udo.  I'll pass that along to my bro-in-law.  He's helping try to id it.
