I think the puzzle ring is silver too and just needs to be cleaned.  :-  You may like to try a little bit of baking soda paste on a small portion of the ring to see if it shines. I found a similar ring at a beach in Los cabos, Mexico and it just looked like yours. After a cleaning, it sparkled like a star.

This just in! I did the happy dance, my first silver coin. about 10 feet from the wheatie.

Congrads buddy. It is commonly called a Barber dime. Hard to find!  Shocked In fact, I found a number of silver coins before ever finding a Barber. For me it was a big deal too.  Kiss

Thanks, Dave, aluminizer and Cyberborikua! I recognized the Barber from watching too many "treasurefiend" vids on youtube. those guys drive me nuts! The Barber dime does have some wear to it however, The crest of the laurel on Liberty's head is stamped 'Liberty' and that has worn away. But I don't have any idea how to grade a coin. I did stroke across the face of the coin when I picked it up, you can see the striations across the face in the photo. I knew better, but it is hard to not touch the face, picking up so many clad coins and then this.

Cyberborikua you are correct. That ring is .925. the tarnish is easily buffed away. I am going to set up a polishing station in the garage soon.

I worked that ground til I about had heat stroke. found about a dozen battery lugs and a lot of aluminum, couple more modern coin, no silver.
