Hi All,
I posted my finds under "todays finds" one of which was a "live .303 WW1 rifle bullet not unusual for that site, as I do make them inert I drilled a small  hole at the base to see what kind of propellant was in side "it was empty"and the percussion cap had the pin mark like it had been fired so I thought  it was a dud when I looked at it a little closer I found the point came out to reveal it was a small knife, what is amazing is I had been given a clip of WW1 German bullets many years ago and they were all tools attached to the points one of which was a knife what a coincidence that  this practice was going on both sides the German round is stamped DM 1897  ............HH...........Johnnn

Maybe that is a special round. If the lead doesn't do the job the knife will....        I saw one of those made in a 50 cal shell. Does the knife tang look it was dipped in the bullet mold?

Hi Muflap,
The bullet is filled with lead as are all jacketed bullets I think they must melt the lead and insert the tang so it becomes fixed, the strange thing with this point is it has obviously been fired as there are rifling marks on it .......HH............Johnnn

Very nice find.
It’s amazing what a young  bored man with plenty of time on hands will come up with.
I remember on my days in the army the trend/fashion was catch snakes skin them and use the skin to dress Bic cigarette lighters.
I use to have a collection of different type of skin patents and colors.
I wish I had kept them.

Very sweet.  That's the kind of "trench art" I can really appreciate.
