It looks like CW to me. Where (the town) did you find it?

Hey Bob, I'm almost positive I've seen belt buckles like that at Gettysburg. I live about 45 minutes away and go often. I would love to be able to dig for CW items around here, except at Gettysburg I would wind up in a nice room with bars and a new wardrobe!

Bob, if I knew I would be happy to help you. Seldom or Christian would know I'm sure send them a PM, they answer pretty quick.

Congratulations on the find.

I have found my share of Civil War relics, but never a belt buckle that that.   This does not mean that it isn't Civil War, it just means I haven't run across any yet.  It is important to remember many individual states equipped troops raised there and as such there was a variance in uniforms and equipages.  For what it is worth, the belt buckle reminds me a naval supply, but in my experience often times there would have an an anchor design on the buckle or a USN.  There are books available on this subject and I suggest you consult with one of these or a real expect as to making an accurate identification of your buckle.
