Wheather  was mild throughout January and i have got the chance to pop out a couple of times. Location was the old abandoned camping a mile distance from my house. Sand was smooth , digging piece a cake and those are the results. (plus 2 rings already on my wife's fingers).
Happy hunting good people.

Nice! Looks like you had a great day.

Someone here on the forums told us that metal detectors are not legal in Greece. Was that not true?

Not really . You can buy them everywhere. To search on a place you need a permission but in fact nobody gives a dime  for a guy digging holes on a beach.
Searching an archeological place sounds different. You end up behind bars.
Most of hunters in Greece though are chasing rebels treasure (a period after WW2 we had a home war) . They  examine combat places in the mountains where is still safe from the authorities.
Regards.

David.

That sounds logical. Thanks for the update. Somebody here said they were absolutely forbidden. I'm happy to find out they were wrong.

You Welcome. Take my word for granted. Not everything is black and white. Thank God grey has 256 variations.
I don't know if i become too loud in this little  topic but i have to confess something it still tortures me.
Seeing your inventory and your Garrett Groundhog ADS i tell everybody (you included Mr GoldDigger) NEVER NEVER NEVER shell or give away such a machine . That a was a big mistake of mine and i try to prevent others of doing it. Perhaps it was never appreciated as it  should be because i found it on a good price of 275 bucks from a guy down in Miami (1989 ).
Regards
David.
PS The Guy from Miami was named David as well . That match It helped us to have a good trade at that time.

I've never sold a machine but I have given a few away over the years. One guy won't let me buy lunch - EVER. Claims he's found 1000 times what I could eat in the fanciest restaurant in town. So, he stops me from paying for lunch. That reminds me. I'm kinda hungry. Going to call him right now.

More than just a few, Xavier. Last summer I gave on the the young teenager who lives next door. His house was built in 1740 and he's been having an absolute ball with a Bounty Hunter I gave him. The guy I go to lunch with lives about 40 miles away and is a childhood chum who I have known since 1956. One day I'll sneak up on the waitress and pay while he's not looking.

David congratulations on your finds.
But just let me understand. Are you saying that if I come with my metal detector let say down town Glifada or some other very popular beach close let say to Athens and start detecting the police will not lock me up?
What will happened if I perhaps go and tell them that I will be detecting on the beach so I can avoid any misunderstanding?
