Yes, it made me feel a lot more safe as well to know.  How it got over to the US is not any guess of mine.  Maybe a souvenir that was taken home by a soldier.  Not really sure. Undecided

Anyways.  It is approximately six and a half pounds in weight.  Its range is about three and a half miles.  It had a cap that went over the top of it, and it was made of tungsten.

But, I have done research and you are right about it being a anti-tank shell.  It was fired from a M86 cannon and at the selected tank.

I am just curious as to if it would be worth a little something.  I don't want to sell it, but it is just nice to know.

It would surly bring something.
I think that it would not bring a lot of money.

Those WW I fuse timers I found are rare.
I could not find another of this type on tha
internet. It is hard to find one in tact.

Ones like it, but another brand cost around
$75.

These would probably bring more,

{alt}

But I do not want to sell them.

They usually look more like this

When I first strated findin these lead balls,
I thought they were musket balls. But they
were packed in some WW I artillery rounds
as schrapnal.

{alt}

Here is a couple of pics I got off tha internet.

These timers would fit several types and size
rounds.

Wow, those look nice.  I figured that key dates or items would have a lot to do with its value.  Did you just happen to run across them and find them? The same situation as I, maybe someone had had them and brought them home from WWI.  What would be your guess?

More than likely you did research and found that out.  I have read on our towns history, but it didn't contain good enough information.  I plan to purchase a audio CD, since it contains over 800 pages and some maps of my county in Missouri.

Actually it was the other way around.
When I first started findin tha stuff, I
did not know what I had. But tha model
and lot numbers, along with tha manufacturer
were on tha fuse timers got me started.

That is when tha research really started.

After finding something like that, I would be doing the same. Grin  My neighbors are wanting to go to their safe in the bank and get the papers out and find out who owned the land during the time of the WWII era, to see if the person was in the WWII fight.  I doubt it was a WWII camp or anything, because I would have found more things.  The place, as I have looked at an old picture of the farm, just had a barn, grain bin, and a two-story house.  Just strange how it got there.

deathwind1;

Why? Did it kill someone? Is it a restricted firearm?

It would be better to research, as has been suggested.... get a book on old ordinance and find information..... keep some records/provenance. I'm afraid the police wont help any, unless there is some history attached to former property owner/occupants, like being in trouble with the law, then you have the freedom of information thingy, to help you.

Maybe Im too paranoid??
