Update: Confirmed by goldsmith using acid tests to be low-karat gold. The lump is auriferous. Smiley

Well congratulations.Now it's a matter of how much gold content,viz work of extraction and quantity to "your area".Nice to find out for sure isn't it?

Now have it assayed and see if you can find the source. It didn't just get dropped there, it probably came by way of natural means like a volcanic explosion. If that was nearby, you can bet there is more where that came from. Any ore that presents itself with visible gold in it is worth a fortune in today's market.

Yup the source is there. For safety's sake, I'm going to have to learn how to smelt the stuff discreetly. Am a total noob to this field; doing lots of research now.

Theirs a few articles on a new smelting method using a home "microwave oven".It comes in kit form at under 300.00 USD  I believe.don't recall the web site,you'll have to look it up your self.It has photos of the entire process an kit parts.Planning to get one my self in future.Again,congratulations,nice Thanksgiving Answer.
