Hay Mike,

Two years ago, I learned from Monty how to find small
gold jewelry. I begged for and borrowed a couple of small
gold rings. I planted them a few inches in the ground, and
found to my dismay that my new digital detector with a
display would not even pick up one of the rings. It would
not have given a signal on the gold ring I found in this
thread either.

I went through 3 more machines with displays. None would
pick up the ring I planted. Then, a dealer sent me a Cibola.
It worked. Not only did it work, it far surpassed my digital
machines with displays.  Now all I have is 5 Tesoroes.

No one ever properly hunted the tot lots around here.. So
I proceeded to dig thousands of targets from the unhunted
tot lots in my area. I dug every thing that made any kind of
sound at all. Then I dug tens of thousands of targets in the
same manor. Then I kept it up.

I learned fast. I learned to ID targets and determine their
depth and size. I learned to recover targets efficiently.

The tot lots ran out for the most part, so I started using my
new found knowledge to go outside the tot lots.

I found a swimming pool where I found some jewelry around
the steel reinforced concrete deck. I started hitting that place.
It was the trashiest place I ever hunted.

I started hunting that pool with determination. It was extremely
difficult. There were several shallow electrical lines there. Some
were abandoned. Some were hot and gave fits with electrical
interference.  I learned to hunt next the steel reinforced slab and
under the chain link fence around the deck. I started slowly
pulling gold jewelry out of it. I was determined to get every thing
out of there. It took 6 months before the targets slowed down.

I found Lots of jewelry, including a 1/5th ct diamond ring
and a 1947 college class ring.

I learned so much from that, I just kept expanding.

My lowly Compadre will get at least 9 inches in an air test
on that small gold ring in this thread. It will get depth in
natural ground also.

That gold ring registers as foil. It weighs less than 2 grams.

That is my secrete.

Happy Huntin,

Tabdog

Go Up Go Down

Hay Mike,

I am not very good with stones. I kaint
help there.

As for gold jewelry, rings are actually a small part
of the over all gold I find.

The most common are pendants and ear rings. I
have even found more gold weight in necklesses
and bracelets than gold rings. Just one neckless
was 22.6 grams. That is equal to a dozen small
rings.

Recently, I have been finding more rings than usual.
That has increased my yearly total. I do not know
how to explain that. But I get good responses form
my machines to small gold at good depth.

Good depth on a small chain may be three inches
with a deticated gold machine. I find them. My
machines were designed by a prospector that
became a metal detector nut.

That in it self helps. I believe the good Tesores are
close to the renoun MXT.

I am sure a lot of folks will disagree. But, they need
to show me, if they want me to believe it.

The MXT and others find coins better, but not many
find gold better.

One of the most important things to remember is,
where do woung women like to do things.

Like trying to keep up with 6 kids in a tot lot.

Or slickerin up at tha beach, and tryin to keep up
with 6 rug rats on tha loose. When they get in tha
water they are not likely to recover lost jewelry.

If you can find where they go late at night and flert
with the gents. Even better, if you can find a place
where they do more than flert, the jewelry just flys
off their bodies. It is seldom recovered.

There is a monument at a tot lot. It tells who was
responsible for the tot lot being there. There is a
collum with a big brass plack and a bench that comes
off the side. The bench is flat with no back. Drunks
like to go there late at night and do it under the stars.

I call it " tha love bench ".

The first time I hunted that tot lot, I found  jewelry
all around that bench. Some as far as 30 feet from
the bench.

Not far from there is a pavilian where they do the
same thing. That was extremely hard to hunt, but
it paid off.

Those two places keep putting out slowly, but surly.
There is also always a fresh covering of trash. But I
have the hard part done, so checking the sites is
quick and easy.

Location, location, location.

I look for the right location. For me that involves test
hunting to sample places.

But sampleing is not what it sounds like. It involves
thinking. I can not just hunt a spot for a few hours and
know if it is hot. It involves trying to understand all
around the site.

There are a lot of places that are bound to have jewelry,
like around picknick tables.

But they have a poor ratio of gold to trash.

Just because it has to be there does not mean you can
find it in a reasonable amount of time.

Another thing is, we have gangs around the near by State
Capital. They have a lot of gold jewelry they like to ware.

The last ring I found was found in the "HOOD". Gun shots
are heard dayly through out the area. Sometimes you can
hear the scream of a police car about 5 minutes after you
hear the gun shots. People have been shot to death in
some of the places I hunt.

I got jumped one time doing this. Now, I carry a gun, and
I still go after their gold.

One big thing is that I hunt at least 5 days a week. I do
not work. I do this for my health as much as anythin.

I have all kinds of physical problems........ I have to eat
constantly because of a severe bleading ulcer. I am too
sick to do much, but if I do not keep on doing this, I will
end up in bed and die in a short time.

I have had eight 2 foot long insisions made on my gut.
Each time they pull out my intestins, cut some off and
chunk them back in. I am very familure with living with
a colostomy. Thank goodness I am not sporting one now.

I have two holes blown all the way through my body.
That may sound like a crock, but that is where I am at.

To most people, it is something they try to find time for.

My hole live suffers because I am always beepin.

My family hates my metal detecting.

But they understand that I will not quit.

As a matter of fact, I am out tha door.

Happy Huntin,

Tabdog
